DIDF-8 - Notification Letters and Penalties for Failing to Remedy Issue or Respond

If you do not respond to the first notice within 30 days of the notice date and you do not secure minimum liability auto insurance or another form of financial responsibility, you may receive additional notices, accrue fines, and potentially have your vehicle registration suspended.

IF YOU DO NOT RESPOND TO THE FIRST NOTICE

You will be fined $25 if you fail to verify your auto insurance coverage or provide other proof of financial responsibility (or provide a proof of exemption) within 30 days of receiving your “first notice” in the mail.

FINAL NOTICE

If you fail to verify your auto insurance coverage or provide other proof of other financial responsibility (or provide proof of a verifiable exemption) within 30 days of the date of your “final notice”, you will be fined $100 and your vehicle registration will be suspended. This means you cannot drive your car on Tennessee roads.
