DIFD-2 - How Electronic Insurance Verification Works

The system is designed to match vehicle registration information against auto insurance policy information that insurance carriers provide on a regular basis. If the system cannot confirm coverage for a motor vehicle, that vehicle will be marked as “unconfirmed,” and the owner should expect to receive notice from the Department of Revenue.

The notices will direct the car owner to www.driveinsuredtn.com, where he or she can provide proof of minimum liability insurance or another form of financial responsibility under the law. If a customer does not respond to the initial notice, subsequent notices will follow. Failure to comply with the notices could result in fines and eventual vehicle registration suspension.
