Lien Discharge Requirements
When a debt secured by a lien on a motor vehicle is satisfied, the lienor must discharge the lien by submitting one of the following to the above address:
- The tear away portion of the top of the certificate of title form, signed and dated by an authorized lienor representative (preferred option);
- A copy of the certificate of title with the lien release portion of the certificate signed and dated by an authorized lienor representative; or
- A lien release on lienor letterhead, which must contain the correct and complete VIN and be signed and dated by an authorized lienor representative. The legal name of lienholder discharging the lien must match Department records associated with the security interest in the vehicle.

Notices of lien discharge should be mailed to the Department of Revenue at the following address:
