TNTAP Login-13 – Third-Party Access to a Client's Account

Tax preparers create a logon on the TNTAP homepage. For security reasons, the Department recommends that the third-party representative never setup access to their client as if he or she is the client. The client/taxpayer does not have to be involved as long as the third-party representative can answer the security questions properly. Multiple third-party representatives may access one tax account.

When a login is created, use the following steps to gain access to a client’s account.

  1. Log in to TNTAP.
  2. Select the “More...” tab.
  3. Click “Gain Access to a Tax Account.”
  4. To the question, “Who does this tax account belong to? Select “Someone Else.”
  5. Enter in the other identifying information.
  6. Select “Next.”
  7. If multiple accounts area available, select the account(s) for which you request access.
  8. Select “Next.”
  9. Click “Submit” to complete the request.

Note that the taxpayer will be mailed a letter confirming that you have been granted account access.
