BUS-24 - Business Tax Liabilities for Taxpayers that Obtained a Business License and Closed or Never Opened a Business

Taxpayers that hold a standard business license received from a city recorder or county clerk are obligated by law to pay business tax to the Tennessee Department of Revenue regardless of the amount of income earned during the tax year. If no income was earned, the minimum tax amount of at least $22 must be paid.

Taxpayers that have received a delinquency notice from the Tennessee Department of Revenue should locate your 10-digit account number on the notice and use this number when filing electronically. Taxpayers with multiple business locations should report gross receipts per location ID on a consolidated return.
