When is the sales tax holiday?

During the 2020 legislative session, the Tennessee General Assembly expanded the sales tax holiday for 2020 only. This year, there will be two sales tax holidays.

  1. The first holiday resembles Tennessee’s traditional sales tax holiday but includes an expanded list of tax exempt items. It will begin at 12:01am, July 31, 2020 and end at 11:59pm, August 2, 2020.
  2. The second holiday applies specifically to food and drinks sold by restaurants and limited service restaurants as defined in Tenn. Code Ann. § 57-4-102. It will begin at 12:01am, August 7, 2020 and end at 11:59pm, August 9, 2020.
