During the 2020 legislative session, the Tennessee General Assembly expanded the sales tax holiday for 2020 only. This year, there will be two sales tax holidays.
- The first holiday resembles Tennessee’s traditional sales tax holiday but includes an expanded list of tax exempt items. It will begin at 12:01am, July 31, 2020 and end at 11:59pm, August 2, 2020.
- The second holiday applies specifically to food and drinks sold by restaurants and limited service restaurants as defined in Tenn. Code Ann. § 57-4-102. It will begin at 12:01am, August 7, 2020 and end at 11:59pm, August 9, 2020.
