I am beginning a business which includes selling liquor for consumption on the premises. I am required to file a price schedule with the Department of Revenue, but I am not sure what my average pour sizes and selling prices will be. What should I do?

New businesses that will be subject to the liquor-by-the-drink tax are required to file a price schedule with the Department before beginning business.  Your beginning price schedule should be based on what you think your prices and pour sizes will be.  If, after three months of ongoing business, you find that your actual prices and/or pour sizes are different than what you originally reported, you should submit an amended price schedule with the word “amended” written at the top and back-date it to your original schedule date. Price schedules can be submitted through your Tennessee Taxpayer Access Point (TNTAP) account.
