I have tried to upload my 1099-K file to the Department’s website, but I get an error message. What should I do?

You may get an error message for a number of reasons.  Please ensure that you have followed each of the requirements below:

  • the file should have a .txt extension
  • remove all quotations and commas
  • check the “I certify” box
  • the record length needs to be 750 characters

Please remember you cannot upload scanned (PDF) files.  The format is specifically set by the Internal Revenue Service.  For more information regarding the format, please review the IRS Publication 1220.  The 2015 version can be found here.
