My school requires the purchase of a computer with a cost of more than $1,500. Will I have to pay sales tax if I buy it during the sales tax holiday?

Yes. The sales tax holiday legislation only exempts computers with a sales price of $1,500 or less. For those that cost more than $1,500, there is no provision to exempt a portion of the sales price and tax the remainder. Computers with a sales price in excess of $1,500 are taxable on the total sales price.
