For security reasons, the Department recommends that the third party representative never setup access to their client as if he or she is the client. The client/taxpayer does not have to be involved as long as the third-party representative can answer the security questions properly.
To gain access to your clients’ accounts without their assistance:
- From your logon, use the following client information:
- SSN or FEIN
- Account type, account ID, zip code
- A recent payment amount or a letter ID from a letter sent after March 2017
The taxpayer will be notified that you have been granted access to their accounts.
