What if the client/taxpayer does not want any involvement in online filing and the third party representative does this for them?

For security reasons, the Department recommends that the third party representative never setup access to their client as if he or she is the client. The client/taxpayer does not have to be involved as long as the third-party representative can answer the security questions properly.


To gain access to your clients’ accounts without their assistance:

  • From your logon, use the following client information:
    • SSN or FEIN
    • Account type, account ID, zip code
    • A recent payment amount or a letter ID from a letter sent after March 2017


The taxpayer will be notified that you have been granted access to their accounts.
